近期高校密集開學(xué)，開學(xué)典禮上，各校校長免不了對新生提出要求和期望。復(fù)旦大學(xué)校長楊玉良在談及“為什么要上大學(xué)”時，引用復(fù)旦老校長李登輝在上世紀20年代說過的一句話告誡新生：如果你是為了升官發(fā)財來到復(fù)旦學(xué)習(xí)，那么你在學(xué)校會受到鄙視。

一般語境下，“升官發(fā)財”似是一個貶義詞組，與“貪圖富貴”同義，為很多人口頭上所不齒。在中國傳統(tǒng)文化中，讀書人首先要“誠意、正心、修身”，做一個道德君子，此乃立身之本；現(xiàn)代大學(xué)教育也講求精神、氣質(zhì)、品格，升官發(fā)財太世俗，似與大學(xué)精神格格不入。無論是復(fù)旦老校長說那句話，還是現(xiàn)任復(fù)旦校長重復(fù)這句話，大概就是基于這樣的觀念。

但是，倘若不說升官發(fā)財，而是說做官員或做公仆、做企業(yè)家或做生意，大概就顯得光鮮亮麗而無貶義了。其實兩者本質(zhì)上是一回事，只是換了一種說法，因此，升官發(fā)財本不該是貶義詞組，而應(yīng)是中性詞組。在中國傳統(tǒng)文化中，讀書人“誠意、正心、修身”之后，應(yīng)該做的就是“學(xué)而優(yōu)則仕”，通過做官、做大官來“治國、平天下”；現(xiàn)代教育優(yōu)于古代教育之處，在于做官并非讀書人的唯一目標，職業(yè)選擇、生活方式多元化，人們上大學(xué)的目的五花八門，但做官仍是目標之一。事實上，如果說古代科舉是選拔官員的途徑，那么，現(xiàn)代大學(xué)教育則承擔(dān)著培養(yǎng)未來官員的重任，不該鄙視學(xué)生為做官、升官而讀書。

做官，一種職業(yè)選擇罷了，任何職業(yè)都在獲取自身利益的同時為社會作貢獻，何況從“應(yīng)然”角度說，做官也可以造福于民。大學(xué)畢業(yè)生選擇從政，乃至從一開始就沖著做官讀大學(xué)，實在沒什么可丟人的。做官如此，發(fā)財亦然?，F(xiàn)在高校鼓勵大學(xué)畢業(yè)生自主創(chuàng)業(yè)，說不定將來會涌現(xiàn)出一批企業(yè)家。企業(yè)家自己發(fā)財，同時為政府貢獻稅收，為社會提供工作崗位，這是榮耀之事。高校一方面鼓勵畢業(yè)生創(chuàng)業(yè)，一方面鄙視學(xué)生為發(fā)財而讀書，有些自相矛盾。在這個開放多元的社會，升官發(fā)財盡管為一些人口頭上所不齒，但事實上是很多人努力奮斗的目標，連一些高校也以培養(yǎng)了多少高官、富豪為榮。這本來沒什么問題，問題在于，有些人為了升官發(fā)財不擇手段，罔顧法律和規(guī)則；有些人升官之后貪腐墮落、為所欲為；有些人發(fā)財之后為富不仁、橫行霸道。在某種意義上，正是這些人敗壞了“升官發(fā)財”的聲譽。

原因當(dāng)然是多方面，如果從教育上找原因，那么我認為，恰恰因為學(xué)校的思想道德教育過于假、大、空，脫離社會實際和學(xué)生所思所想，從而出現(xiàn)道德虛無化、精神荒漠化。與其希冀將學(xué)生打造成道德君子，不如放下身段，將教育的目標確定為培養(yǎng)遵守法律和規(guī)則、具有法治精神和規(guī)則意識的合格公民，在此基礎(chǔ)上讓道德因子自然生長。

拿升官發(fā)財來說，學(xué)校大可不必教育學(xué)生鄙視升官發(fā)財——這樣的說教本身就很虛偽，不會有多少學(xué)生相信——而是要教育學(xué)生通過合法、正當(dāng)?shù)耐緩缴侔l(fā)財；升官之后要有更大作為，要廉潔自律、服務(wù)于民；發(fā)財之后更要遵紀守法，不要橫行霸道，要履行作為富人的社會責(zé)任，不要為富不仁。我想，這樣的教育更能為學(xué)生所接受，對學(xué)生、對社會更具有實際意義。
