(Mrs.Lee, a Korean housewife, decides to teach English to her son Minsu.She will nickname Minsu “Michael” from now on.So she also decides to speak only English to him.)

Michael(Son): Dad, you're speaking English, too?

Mr.Lee(Father): Yes, your mother said it would help you.So I am speaking English, too.Michael(Son): It feels strange speaking English to you, Dad.Mr.Lee(Father): Don't worry about that!What you should worry about is you breakfast.How can you eat only cereal?

Andy: What?

Michael: That's better.Let's speak in English.Andy: Okay, but why?

Michael: Well, my mom decided that the best way to learn English is to practice it all the time.Andy: Everybody knows it.Michael: Yes, everybody knows it, but nobody does it.So we are going to do it.Andy: It sounds like a good idea.Michael: It's a great idea.Maybe we should tell our friends and teachers about it.Andy: Maybe, but we should think about it first.Michael: You're right.Let's think about it before we decide.Andy: What are you doing at lunch time?

Mr.Lee(Father): Well, I'm worried that Machieal will forget Korean.Mrs.Lee(Mother): That is impossible.Mr.Lee(Father): No, it's not?

Mrs.Lee(Mother): Of course it is.Even if we speak English to Michael, he will watch Korean television, listen to Korean songs, and go to Korean school.How can he forget?

Mr.Lee(Father): You're right.I don't have to worry.But, why are we speaking English to each other?

Situation 5 A Telephone Call

(Mrs.Lee makes a telephone call to Andy's mother, Mrs.Cho.)

Mrs.Lee: Hello, may I please speak with Mrs.Cho?

Mrs.Cho: This is she.May I ask who is calling?

Mrs.Lee: Yes, it's Mrs.Lee, Michael's mother.Mrs.Cho: Oh, Hello!How are you?

Mrs.Lee: I'm fine, thank you.How have you been?

Mrs.Cho: Fine, thank you.May I ask you a question?

Mrs.Lee: Of course.Mrs.Cho: Why are we speaking in English?

Mrs.Lee: Going to a cafe was a great idea.I have almost no time to rest during a day.Mrs.Cho: I understand how you feel.That is why I go to a cafe for one hour every day.It gives me a chance to rest, to think, and sometimes, to talk.Mrs.Lee: Yes, I think resting and talking are both very important.Especially when you are always busy.Mrs.Cho: Why don't we order first?

Mrs.Lee: That's a good idea.Let's order.Waiter!

Mrs.Cho: Oh, excuse me.(Waiter): Yes.May I take your order?

(Back at school, Michael and Andy are eating lunch together.)

Andy: Michael, did you speak English in your classes?

Michael: I tried to, but some of teachers wouldn't let me.Andy: Me too.When I spoke English at my Korean language class, the teacher hit my hands with a stick.Michael: Yeah, that happened to me, too.But it was my math teacher who hit me.He said, “When we've in Korea and we should speak only Korean.”

Andy: Really? I didn't think anyone still thought like that.Michael: I know, but they do.There are still many people who think that Koreans can't speak English well.But I think if you practice, you can speak English very well.Andy: I think you are right.Michael: Of couse, I am.I am very smart.Andy: Ha...Michael: Ha...Andy: I know, but I'm even smarter.Michael: Do you think so?

第一階段的四個(gè)要領(lǐng)

第一，選擇1盤（再次強(qiáng)調(diào)是1盤而非1套）適合自身英語(yǔ)水平的磁帶。第二，每天集中精力把A面和B面連續(xù)聽(tīng)兩遍。

第三，要堅(jiān)持天天聽(tīng)，但每隔6天要休息1天。

第四，直到聽(tīng)清磁帶中的所有內(nèi)容。

第二階段的七個(gè)要領(lǐng)

第一，把已經(jīng)能完全聽(tīng)清的磁帶中的第1盤磁帶再找出來(lái)。

第二，聽(tīng)寫這盤磁帶的內(nèi)容。

第三，做聽(tīng)寫練習(xí)時(shí)，一句一句地聽(tīng)。即：聽(tīng)完一句后，先按暫停，把剛才聽(tīng)到的寫下來(lái)，反復(fù)聽(tīng)，直到完全聽(tīng)清這句為止。不會(huì)的單詞根據(jù)發(fā)音大致拼寫出來(lái)即可。

第四，聽(tīng)寫完整盤磁帶的所有內(nèi)容后，用英英詞典確認(rèn)不會(huì)的單詞的拼寫是否正確（知道其意當(dāng)然好，不知道也不要緊）。

第五，按這種方法聽(tīng)寫完整盤磁帶的內(nèi)容后，盡量模仿磁帶的發(fā)音和語(yǔ)調(diào)，從頭到尾大聲朗讀（不滿意的部分要再聽(tīng)一遍磁帶重新朗讀）。

第六，感覺(jué)到所有的句子都已經(jīng)能朗朗上口以后，便結(jié)束這一階段。

第七，整個(gè)過(guò)程中，每個(gè)星期要有1天與英語(yǔ)完全隔絕。

第三階段的七個(gè)要領(lǐng)

第一，用英英詞典查以前做聽(tīng)寫練習(xí)時(shí)不懂的單詞。

第二，把單詞的解釋和例句記下來(lái)，若這其中還有不懂的單詞的話，繼續(xù)查詞典。第三，查詞典要堅(jiān)持查到?jīng)]有不懂的單詞為止。

第四，大約查1個(gè)小時(shí)后，暫停查詞典，并大聲朗讀通過(guò)查詞典整理出的內(nèi)容。第五，查在原文和單詞解釋中出現(xiàn)的所有不懂的單詞，并一直朗讀直到完全吃透解釋和例句為止。

第四階段的四個(gè)要領(lǐng)

第一，準(zhǔn)備1盤錄像帶。

第二，帶上耳機(jī)，每天看1遍。

第三，能夠完全聽(tīng)清之后，便開(kāi)始聽(tīng)寫、朗讀。

第四，將不清楚的單詞，利用英英詞典查找并朗讀。

第五階段的六個(gè)要領(lǐng)

第一，準(zhǔn)備１張最近的英文原版報(bào)紙（在美國(guó)發(fā)行的報(bào)紙）。

第二，從社會(huì)版面挑選一篇短文章（１－２分鐘就能念完的），然后大聲朗讀。必須堅(jiān)持到完全消化為止，就好像自己成了新聞主持人一樣。

第三，當(dāng)確信自己不看原文也可以記住文章內(nèi)容時(shí)，把它像講一個(gè)故事一樣繪聲繪色地復(fù)述下來(lái)。

第四，能夠流利地誦讀時(shí)，再選第二篇文章，重復(fù)上面所講的方法。

第五，看完一個(gè)版面后，就像第三階段那樣處理不認(rèn)識(shí)的單詞。

第六，把報(bào)紙上廣告，名人訪談，漫畫(huà)等所有的內(nèi)容，都按上述方法加以學(xué)習(xí)。

看了這個(gè)題目各位同仁是否情緒激動(dòng)呢？稍安勿躁！當(dāng)你要求學(xué)生學(xué)英語(yǔ)的時(shí)候?qū)W生是否翻開(kāi)教材的詞匯表開(kāi)始背單詞——就是按照單詞表的順序一遍一遍地看單T-E-C-H-N-O-L-O-G-Y,technology寫單詞呢？你是否經(jīng)常講課前要聽(tīng)寫十個(gè)八個(gè)單詞呢？回到辦公室批改，寫錯(cuò)很多單詞的學(xué)生還得加罰N遍呢？這樣學(xué)英語(yǔ)永遠(yuǎn)學(xué)不會(huì)英語(yǔ)！即便學(xué)的好也是以犧牲大量時(shí)間，精力甚至是大把人民幣為基礎(chǔ)，以削弱學(xué)生英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的積極性為代價(jià)而取得的。此乃緣木求魚(yú)之舉。毋庸置疑，詞匯學(xué)習(xí)在英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)中有著舉足輕重的作用。詞匯掌握不好，英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)成了無(wú)源之水，無(wú)本之木。學(xué)英語(yǔ)千萬(wàn)別背單詞，豈不是胡說(shuō)嗎？ 問(wèn)題的如何背單詞！

永遠(yuǎn)不要脫離一個(gè)真實(shí)的語(yǔ)境，地道的英語(yǔ)句子，表達(dá)法，習(xí)慣搭配，去孤立地記憶一個(gè)一個(gè)英語(yǔ)單詞。

那么詞匯教學(xué)策略有那些呢？什么是策略呢？策略是對(duì)方法的分析及教學(xué)中對(duì)方法的選擇。我個(gè)人覺(jué)得詞匯教學(xué)策略主要有如下幾個(gè)方面：

一、掌握核心詞匯策略

新教材詞匯數(shù)量之多，難度之大是老師和同學(xué)們十分頭痛的事。新課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)分級(jí)目標(biāo)五級(jí)要求學(xué)生只須掌握1500—1600個(gè)單詞，200—300個(gè)詞組。教材中的單詞不用遇詞必背，只要是話題詞匯同時(shí)也是目標(biāo)詞匯才下功夫掌握。

二、詞匯呈現(xiàn)策略

教材編寫的意圖非常明確。詞匯都是在單元教學(xué)開(kāi)始部分以不同的方式呈現(xiàn)。沒(méi)有必要用獨(dú)立課時(shí)集中學(xué)習(xí)詞匯。等學(xué)生把單詞背會(huì)再進(jìn)行單元教學(xué)。詞匯呈現(xiàn)策略大體包括以下幾個(gè)方面：

1.簡(jiǎn)單詞匯可以用圖片實(shí)物呈現(xiàn)方式在課堂教學(xué)過(guò)程中學(xué)習(xí)，2.抽象，復(fù)雜詞匯可以提前學(xué)習(xí)，必要是借助母語(yǔ)的幫助。.難度不大，可以借助語(yǔ)境進(jìn)行猜詞訓(xùn)練，學(xué)習(xí)新的詞匯同時(shí)也培養(yǎng)了學(xué)生猜測(cè)詞義的能力。

三、詞匯記憶策略

英語(yǔ)單詞是拼音文字，學(xué)生記憶如何拼寫是非常困難的，老師應(yīng)該指導(dǎo)學(xué)生如何記憶單詞。

語(yǔ)音法。多讀，使單詞的讀音在大腦中 “心聲”定型。首先記住讀音，讓后根據(jù)語(yǔ)音規(guī)則利用語(yǔ)音法記憶單詞。

觀察法。多看，詞匯教學(xué)時(shí)不要急于記憶單詞的拼寫，首先觀察單詞的構(gòu)成規(guī)律，化難為簡(jiǎn)。有的單詞貌似生詞實(shí)乃熟詞也。生詞=熟詞+熟詞。

詞匯圖建構(gòu)法。多畫(huà)，細(xì)心的老師會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)外研版教材中有許多模塊運(yùn)用wordmap模式進(jìn)行詞匯學(xué)習(xí)。這恐怕是編輯教材的大俠們欣賞的一種單詞記憶法。就像蜘蛛結(jié)網(wǎng)單詞與單詞相互依存，扯耳腮動(dòng)。

四、詞匯鞏固拓展策略

閱讀強(qiáng)化法。上述幾種方法是詞匯學(xué)習(xí)初級(jí)階段。要想怎強(qiáng)記憶的周期必須強(qiáng)化課內(nèi)外閱讀。大量的閱讀中結(jié)合語(yǔ)境不斷的復(fù)現(xiàn)學(xué)過(guò)的單詞減少遺忘情況的發(fā)生。常言到拳不離手，曲不離口。必須在一個(gè)真實(shí)的語(yǔ)境，地道的英語(yǔ)句子，表達(dá)法，習(xí)慣搭配中記憶單詞，離開(kāi)語(yǔ)境。記憶單詞是勞民傷財(cái)?shù)摹?/p>

DIY詞匯銀行法。在學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中，無(wú)論是做練習(xí)，單元測(cè)試，英文歌曲欣賞，英文視頻短片觀看，還是在報(bào)刊，雜志，電視，互聯(lián)網(wǎng)上接觸的英語(yǔ)單詞要記在可隨身攜帶的小本本上，經(jīng)常翻閱，建立自己的詞匯銀行，隨用隨取。收集學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中的生詞，句子。擴(kuò)大詞匯量的同時(shí)，擴(kuò)大句子量，收錄隨處可見(jiàn)的英文標(biāo)識(shí)，讓學(xué)生發(fā)現(xiàn)身邊這么多課外英語(yǔ)而欣喜。摘抄一些經(jīng)典的語(yǔ)言片段也是英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)行之有效的辦法，把這些語(yǔ)言地道，俊秀的美文背誦下來(lái)必將充實(shí)學(xué)生的語(yǔ)感，提高口頭和書(shū)面表達(dá)能力。具體做法是沒(méi)名學(xué)生準(zhǔn)備一個(gè)筆記本我們叫它詞匯銀行,每天完成三個(gè)單詞,兩個(gè)短語(yǔ),一個(gè)英文句子,我們叫它三二一工程.學(xué)生定期翻閱.從walkman 到mp3無(wú)不體現(xiàn)了中學(xué)生追求時(shí)尚的天性。
